Having worked with Community Health Ventures for five years, Danny Hawkins is the Director of the ViP program, the only national group purchasing program endorsed by NACHC. Danny has a long history with community health centers. As a child, Danny was a patient of Su Clinica Familia in Brownsville, Texas, where his father Daniel R. Hawkins was Executive Director for eight years. Next, Danny was employed by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers (MACHC) in Annapolis, Maryland as the PCA Membership Services Director where he was responsible for, among other things, group purchasing activities.
Rod has been in the health care industry for over a decade. He started at ValueOptions in Sales & Marketing in technical support and progressed to managing the Research & Reporting department. After a stint in the Sales Department of APS Healthcare, Inc., Rod joined Community Health Ventures in his current capacity as Sales Associate for the ViP program.
Gwen has been with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) since February 1993. She served in an array of capacities during these years with NACHC which made her a candidate to serve as Chief Operating Officer for NACHC’s sister organization, Community Health Ventures (CHV). As COO, Gwen is responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, the planning and directing of all aspects of the organization’s operational policies, objectives and initiatives. She is further responsible for the attainment of short- and long-term financial and operational goals, as well as directing the development aspects of the organization to ensure future growth.
John joins Community Health Services as the newest member, with over 18 years of healthcare experience specific around distribution, contract utilization and provider services and solutions.
In 2001, through his previous employer, John was asked to present a distribution program to CHV that would allow health centers from across the country the ability to purchase their medical supplies at a discounted rate.
This included working with Danny Hawkins, in the creation of a purchasing program, now known as VIP, which incorporates a formulary of products and services, as well as an implementation guideline, that has allowed health centers to be viewed as a single provider rather then an individual purchasing entity. This has insured that health centers are maximizing potential savings through the Community Health Ventures VIP Program.
Over the past four years, John has traveled across the country to help promote the VIP program and to make centers aware of the savings and improved process flow they can achieve by utilizing the entire contract portfolio available through the VIP program.
His strong passion towards health centers and the services they provide to their communities was the driving force in his decision to join the Community Health Venture team.
